The peace of God, which passeth all understanding.
The peace of God, which passeth all understanding. Philippians 4:7

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you… Let not your hearts be troubled.” — John 14:27

The Quiet Transformation

Last week, we reflected on a profound truth: suffering, when united to God, becomes an offering.

But something even deeper follows.

When suffering is no longer resisted…when it is accepted, entrusted, and offered…

it is transformed again.

It becomes peace.

Not the absence of pain.Not the removal of hardship.

But something far greater:

The presence of God within the moment.

The Secret of Peace

Jean-Pierre de Caussade teaches that the soul finds true peace only in surrender to the will of God in the present moment.

We often search for peace by trying to:

  • Change our circumstances

  • Escape discomfort

  • Control outcomes

But peace does not come from control.

Peace comes from consent.

The soul that says “yes” to God in all thingsbegins to rest—even in the storm.

From Resistance to Rest

Consider the difference:

  • Resistance creates anxiety

  • Control creates exhaustion

  • Fear creates unrest

But:

  • Trust creates peace

The moment we stop asking, “Why is this happening?” and begin asking, “How is God present here?”

Everything changes.

The burden may remain. But the soul becomes light.

Christ in the Present Moment

Jesus did not avoid suffering.

He entered into it fully and, in doing so, filled it with divine presence.

On the cross, there was pain—but also perfect surrender:

“Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.” — Luke 23:46

This is the heart of the present moment:

Not escape. Not explanation.

But union.

Living This Today

How do we move from offering to peace?

Very simply:

  • Accept what you cannot change

  • Offer it to God

  • Trust that He is working within it

Even silently, you can pray:

“Lord, I accept this moment as Your will.I trust You within it.”

That small act of surrender opens the door to deep interior peace.

A Peace the World Cannot Give

The world defines peace as:

  • Comfort

  • Stability

  • Control

But God’s peace is different.

It is:

  • Steady in uncertainty

  • Present in suffering

  • Unshaken by circumstances

It is, as Scripture says:

“The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding…” — Philippians 4:7

Where We Go Next

The journey continues:

  • (IX) Trusting the Unseen Work of God — when nothing seems to change

  • (X) The Holiness of Ordinary Moments — finding God in the small and hidden

The path deepens. The surrender grows. And grace continues its quiet work.

Closing Prayer

Help me,Lord Jesus. Come into my heart. Fill it with Thy presence. Stamp "Thy will be done<" on my heart. For Your name's sake, Your glory and my benefit. Amenn

Dying with Jesus, by death reckoned mine;

Living with Jesus, a new life divine;

Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine,

Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.

Refrain

Moment by moment I’m kept in His love;

Moment by moment I’ve life from above;

Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine;

Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.

Never a trial that He is not there,

Never a burden that He doth not bear,

Never a sorrow that He doth not share,

Moment by moment, I’m under His care.

Refrain

Never a heartache, and never a groan,

Never a teardrop and never a moan;

Never a danger but there on the throne,

Moment by moment He thinks of His own.

Refrain

Never a weakness that He doth not feel,

Never a sickness that He cannot heal;

Moment by moment, in woe or in weal,

Jesus my Savior, abides with me still.

Refrain

Daniel W. Whittle, 1893

And, lo,I am with you ALWAY, even unto the end

of the world. Matthew 28:20
