3 Solid Christian Seminaries

Praise God! This is an encouraging sign that Jesus is using us to build His kingdom. Our article on systematic theology has quickened his interest.

Long ago, the"Ivy League" schools were set up for this reason: to teach systematic theology.

•  In 1650, the Harvard Corporation chose In Christi Gloriam, a Latin phrase meaning “For the glory of Christ.”

• Yale's motto: Lux et Veritas, “light and truth.” adorned the seal of Yale University since 1736 and often accompanies the Hebrew phrase, אורים וְתּמִים (Urim v'Thummim), “lights and perfections.”

• Princeton's. Dei sub numine viget. "Under God's power she flourishes" came in 1746.

• 
  

• Brown's In Deo Speramus ("In God We Hope") in 1764.

• 
  

• Columbia's In lumine Tuo videbimus lumen ("In Thy light shall we see light" Psalm 36:9) in 1754.

All these schools were established to train ministers of the Gospel in Truth and Light. That Truth and Light has gone, and now these schools are the enemies of Jesus Christ* (4 BC-30AD) and His Word.

Other schools have emerged over the past 350 years since the first was founded, and today there are 3,982 degree-granting postsecondary institutions in the U.S. as of the 2019-2020 school year, according to the National Center for Education Statistics.

As evangelical Christians we have to be careful to chose one that teaches the truth of the Bible, that Jesus is the one and only Mediator, that you must be born again, and that conversion demands repentance and a changed life, walking with Jesus and putting Him first.

This is the oldest and most prestigious on my list. It was founded in 1929 when J. Gresham Machen and othe professor withdrew from Princeto becasue of its liberal teaching. Read more on this Here.

Trinity was the bulwork against the liberal wokeims in the the Episcopal Churh. The Anglican Church in North America exists today because of the godly ministers here.

in Lakeland, FL. One of children'sfriends from Cornerstone Christian Academy is studying there now. I feel conficent that our faith and its future are in godly hands.

It is so encouraging to hear from a reader who wants to study systematic theology. Our culture needs this strong footiing. There will be more on theology in the coming months, and we need to value theology and theologians for their teaching about our great salvation.

Christian theologians contributions over the last 2,000 years.

Christianity, to some, is as simple as a John 3:16 poster at a football game, and that is it in a nutshell. However, living Christianity, building its institutions, and developing its leaders is a more complex process. Thank God for the wise thinkers, teachers, and leaders He has given us to help us worship Him and build His church.
