Just as God had opened the Red Sea for Moses, He now opened the Jordan for Joshua. Israel could have no doubt that the same God who delivered them from slavery was now giving them their inheritance. The miracle also confirmed Joshua's leadership before all the people.

Paul arrives in Rome not as a free man, but not as a condemned one either. He is allowed to live by himself with a soldier guarding him. God has brought His servant exactly where He promised — not by the path Paul might have chosen, but by the path God ordained.
