Last week, Christiana, her children, and Mercy received what every pilgrim soon learns to prize: a faithful guide.
They had reached the Interpreter’s House. They had been welcomed, instructed, refreshed, and clothed. Then, as they prepared to continue, the Interpreter called for one of his servants:
“Then said the Interpreter to one of his servants, Take sword, and helmet, and shield; and take these my daughters, and conduct them to the house called Beautiful.”

The Pilgrim's Progress (VI): God Sends a Faithful Guide
The Interpreter had refreshed Christiana, Mercy, and the boys. Before they continued their journey, another visitor arrived.
Then said the Interpreter, "This is Great-heart, your guide and conductor. He will faithfully accompany you until you shall come to the desired haven."
Christiana welcomed him gladly.
"Sir," she said, "our Lord has dealt kindly with us already, and now He has added this mercy also."

The pilgrims had now left the House of the Interpreter.
Christiana walked with her four sons, and Mercy kept close beside them. They had learned much within those walls, but the King's Highway still stretched before them, and none of them knew what the next day's journey would bring.

The Pilgrim’s Progress: Christiana Leaves Home and Begins the Journey
Last week we met Christiana, the wife of Christian, as she remained behind in the City of Destruction after her husband began his pilgrimage. For a time she resisted his warnings and dismissed his concerns.
But after Christian reached the Celestial City, the Lord began His own work in her heart. Conviction replaced indifference. Sorrow replaced complacency. At last Christiana realized that her husband had not been mad after all. He had been right.
